Ingredients
- 2 large, peeled and sliced Apples
- 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon All-purpose flour
- 2 (store-bought or homemade) Premade pie crusts
- 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons, cubed Unsalted butter
- 1 (for egg wash) Egg
- 1 tablespoon (for sprinkling) Granulated sugar
Instructions
-
1
Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
2
Peel and slice the apples into thin wedges and place them in a bowl. Toss the apple slices with lemon juice to prevent browning.
-
3
Add brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and flour to the apples. Toss everything together until the apple slices are evenly coated.
-
4
Roll out each pie crust on a lightly floured surface. Cut each crust into 6-inch circles using a bowl or pastry cutter.
-
5
Place a small spoonful of the spiced apple mixture in the center of each circle, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges. Add a small cube of butter on top of the apples.
-
6
Carefully fold the edges of the dough over the apples, pleating as you go to create a rustic look. The center of the galette will remain open, showing the apples.
-
7
Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush the edges of each galette with the egg wash. Sprinkle the edges with granulated sugar for extra crunch.
-
8
Place the galettes on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
-
9
Remove the galettes from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce!
