Complexity: Easy Cooking Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup (softened) Unsalted butter
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup Dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup Whipped cream (for decorating)
  • 2 tbsp Edible silver sprinkles (optional, for space theme)

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and grease an 8-inch cake pan.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. 3

Add softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat until the mixture is smooth.

  4. 4

Gradually add the milk while mixing until the batter is fully combined and lump-free.

  5. 5

Melt the dark chocolate chips in the microwave (about 20-30 seconds), stirring until smooth.

  6. 6

Divide the cake batter into two parts. Stir the melted dark chocolate into one half of the batter, leaving the other half plain vanilla.

  7. 7

Pour the vanilla batter into one half of the prepared cake pan and the chocolate batter into the other half. Use a spatula to gently swirl the two together to create a unique space-inspired pattern.

  8. 8

Bake the cake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  9. 9

Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

  10. 10

Once cooled, frost the top with whipped cream and add edible silver sprinkles for a space-inspired finish.

  11. 11

Slice and enjoy your Ilon Mask Cake!
