Ingredients
- 1 cup Farmers cheese or ricotta
- 1 large Egg
- 2 tablespoons Sugar
- 1/2 cup All-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil or butter (for frying)
- As needed Sour cream (for serving)
- As needed Jam or honey (for serving)
Instructions
-
1
In a mixing bowl, combine the farmers cheese (or ricotta), egg, sugar, vanilla extract, baking powder, and salt.
-
2
Gradually add the flour into the mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms. The dough should be slightly sticky but manageable.
-
3
Dust your hands and your working surface with a bit of flour, and form small patties from the dough, about 2-3 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick.
-
4
Heat the vegetable oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat.
-
5
Once the oil or butter is hot, carefully place the formed patties into the skillet. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
-
6
Transfer the cooked syrniki to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
-
7
Serve the syrniki warm with a dollop of sour cream and a spoonful of jam or honey on the side.
