Complexity: Easy Cooking Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup, softened Butter
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Fanta orange soda
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (optional for garnish) Orange zest

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and dust it lightly with flour.

  2. 2

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder and set aside.

  3. 3

In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.

  4. 4

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. 5

Add half of the dry flour mixture to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.

  6. 6

Pour in the Fanta and mix until smooth. Then, add the remaining dry ingredients and fold until you have a smooth batter.

  7. 7

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

  8. 8

Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  9. 9

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

  10. 10

For the icing, whisk together powdered sugar with 2 tablespoons of Fanta until smooth.

  11. 11

Once the cake is fully cooled, drizzle the Fanta icing over the top. Garnish with orange zest if desired.

  12. 12

    Slice and serve!
